Symposium 2023

Symposium Questions and Final Decisions

  1. Should we make Crafting Theory and Scientific Research one skill? This skill would be called Scientific Research and found in Academic, Craftsman, and Human lineage lists. This would reduce the costs to get Technology Craftings. Both Skills feel like they are covering very similar topics. Decision: Yes
  2. Should we remove Healing and Harming from specialization? Healing specialization is over utilized currently. Spells can be developed that function in a similar manner, this will make healing more resource based and help to increase the viability of medicine. Decision: Yes
  3. Should all characters be able to use a minimum amount of armor to start? This will boost starting players survivability, increase the use of armor, and increase the use of forging. Decision: Yes
  4. Should characters get their first category for free? This would help players build into additional categories slightly faster but allow for people to feel more valuable in a particular category. Decision: Yes Part 2 This change would have an effect on the prerequisite costs for additional damage in the combat trees. Currently category cost and lineage skills tied to the combat groups count toward these costs. Should these costs be ammended? Decision: Yes
  5. Should we add Crafted Being to our Lineages. These would be characters that were built or grown, but have found a way to acquire and use essence (regardless if they know how). There is precident for this in the history of Katalossa and could include constructs, clones, test tube creations, ai, and similar styles of characters. Decision: No, Vote Again Next Symposium
  6. Should we move strength to general list and replace with new skill? Decision: No, with changes to first category being free, this skill being available in unarmed may balance out.

Spells and Items

All spells and items were approved.

Flesh to Energy was approved with the ammended change that each Energy granted would give 1 condition of bleed. This bleed effect can stack, causing 2 removals to be used. This is a special condition and is part of the spell description.

Rulebook Changes

We will be making changes to the rules sections to reflect these votes as well as helping to clarify the existing rules. It is intended to do yearly updates to the rulebook. Once a new version is offically out, a public announcement will be made.
